Well... Do I tint my beauty...??? Tempted to do my roof too... Any horror stories or tips I should look out for??? [emoji4].. X

I have factory tint on my white E350 and it does set the car off a treat.

Personally I would take it to a professional to have this done but there was a thread on this or the other forum by someone who did their own.

I cannot even get a cover straight on an iPhone so no way would I attempt it on a car.

Ha,ha... Yeah me too!! I'm getting a quote to have it tinted .. Just back 3 windows.. Only concern is that the back windows move and re-align when front ones are opened??!! So worried that this will end up looking awful !!?? Super excited though!! IMG_0904.JPG

My C63 came with all windows tinted (not the windscreen obviously) and I was concerned how they'd last as I'm always winding them up and down. They look brand new after 3 years fitted, however I don't know who the previous owner used to get it done; my guess is somewhere top notch. So, although I can't confirm who fitted them, I'd suggest they'll last just fine if they're done properly.

Thanks flower.. [emoji4] I will keep you posted.. Getting a quote from highly recommended place!! ... Wouldn't trust her in the hands of just anyone... [emoji6][emoji4] X

I wouldn't - it just looks so tacky , in a sort of wannabe mafia staff car way .

Clear front windows and dark back ones just look dreadful

The roof would look nice with a black piano Gloss finish but insure they don't cut against the car when applying.
If i was tinting the window i would have the back a shade or two darker not limo black and have the front just slightly tinted so the car blends in well.
But to see the affect you could should ask the people tinting it to show some examples and be aware that the if you go too dark at the front the police can pull you over.

grumpyoldgit your colour tint looks spot on and if Sarah add the roof in piano black I think this would add to the car looks.

I had tints fitted by a local specialist when I bought my ML in 2005. Eleven years later, they are still like new. Now if MB could do the same with their corrosion protection, I'd be happy!

Getting my c250 rear windows tinted on tuesday got a pano roof and car is white hope it looks good,Being done as off to spain in it shortly

If a good brand of film is used and it is installed professionally and is well looked after, it will last a lifetime with no fading or lifting etc.

To those commenting about tacky looks, lots of cars come out with factory privacy glass and don't look tacky, why would this all of the sudden look tacky?

The CLK is a trickier to tint than many others due to poor access from in the back and the dropping windows upon door opening, but once all film is on and fully cured, there is no reason for anything to go wrong. Most places would offer some sort of guarantee.

I'd do it for the sole reason of sun blocking, the difference is very noticeable.

My C250 estate has factory tints & the car is black so looks pretty darn good in my eyes. I have 10% on the front doors & 90% on the rest. Great for the kids on long journeys as i dont get any of the daaaaad i cant see my ipad..

We have a local place in Chester thats real quality, they get the film in massive rolls & then they have a kind of plotter machine that cuts it to the actual spec of the car. They did my Lexus & it looked mint.

I have factory **** on my brand new GLE and Jeep, looks good. The Jeep is 8 yrs ols and the factory tines look like new.

As most are aware, you can't legally tint the front door winds as they are already on the limit.

Search reviews for local tinters should help.

I'm glad there's a tint discussion . Having lived in Belgium for a couple of years the amount of Audis here that have rear tints is remarkable...And the are a lot of Audis. I never liked full tints when I saw them in London when I lived there, thinking that the people inside have something to hide - it just looked dodgy. Clearly the owners loved it though. So like Marmite. Maybe now, it's more socially acceptable (!) to have full tints, tastefully done within legal/safe parameters.
Specifically half-tints, to my eyes, look really weird and spoil both the general aesthetics of the car and the flow of the window line. I guess the really practical reason is that they are effectively huge sunglasses for kids in the back seats. If no tints mean they can't play their iPad etc is that a bad thing? Maybe they'd have to do something awful, like talk with their parents about interesting topics

I specifically ordered no tints on my new car, but did order glass with infrared-refecting and noise reduction, so I hope I've not done myself in with getting tints!!! :wallbash:

Tint, but get it done correctly, mine was done with Suntec tints:

Having dark tints at the back and legal front windows is great for that delivery van look

Some companies do graduate the tint on the rear side windows so it gets lighter towards the front, which can help a bit.

Had mine done last week by a recommended local garage and I think it looks great. Blackout on the sides to hide everything in the back and smoke on the rear windscreen.
The Merc is the first car in a long tome that I've bought that hasn't had factory fitted tinted windows

Dark tinted rear windows? Why not spend the money on something equally worthwhile, like a personalised number plate?
