The E Classes at the end look almost reasonable.

Commercials are selling for strong money at auction as well, but by the same token the stock is shifting as soon as we get it in.

Yes I think this would be a really good thread for members to check out current prices especially us members in the sticks Keep it up

very interesting, not cheap is a good description!

I was offered an 08 C63 from a main dealer with 1 year warranty for £27k 6 months ago!

Having bought an E220 BE A/G auto estate from a main dealer recently (12 plate, 3k miles, 5 months old!) I would say that the 12 plate looks pricey!

The C63 looks to be the only thing of value.

What additional costs to you get hit with at the auctions ? Buyers premium / commission ?

extras
DB9 5.9 V12 05 38K £32400
SL500 02 52K £9300
E320 3.2 A/G NEW SHAPE 02 95K £3600
R/ROVER 2.9 TD6 HSE 1OWN 02 90K £6700

What did a C63 cost back in 2008? A 5 year old model fetching £25k (inc fees) can't be bad.

The RR TD6 doesn't look bad value.

People I know still in the car trade can't be bothered with BCA anymore, too many private buyers pushing prices up, high fees, poor stock, can't say I blame them, most I know have taken to sourcing from main dealers p/x s if they can or bidding desperate private buyers.

From approx £55k upwards.

Around the £60k mark? The prices at auction are so strong now that dealers are actually making good money by sending to auction; it wouldn't surprise me if that was traded in at low twenties.

And because of Mercedes flooding the market with lease/PCP deals etc on C63s it's given them the whip hand to control the second hand prices which in my opinion is a great strategy.

The only thing is that they class any car over five year old as being 'too old' to market, so I'd expect prices to start softening now that the first examples are hitting five years old.

It's good that Geoff is showing these prices, it shows people how tight margins are in the trade; everyone thinks we've got a secret club where we can buy S65's for 78p.

i worked for many years just trading cars to dealers, and it must be said made some nice money, problem now is the multi franchised companys send everything to auction, and if you want direct stock you have to pay the price.Back in the day i had every trade-in that came into many big Ford dealers, all under written before the sale happened.Dagenham motors and Frys of Lewisham were the main ones.My brother still trades this way but with smaller dealerships.Oh how i miss the 60's.

I'm glad I don't do it for a living anymore, I think people doing the more prestige stuff still can have a decent margin but at the same time the market is much smaller and you run the risk of being stuck with the car for months too.
The people I know that still work in the trade say it's a lot of effort for a pretty poor living at the moment.

E200 ESTATE B/E A/GARDE TIP7 12 7K £26300 SOLD

You can buy a new one for £29000 and it comes with DAB, Media, Comand, internet, leather, xenons.
Makes me wonder if dealers actually look at the price of new cars before jumping in??

It will be purchased for export. You get used to seeing it after a while, things that book at £17-18k fetching over £10k more. The margins are huge and they don't mind paying well over the odds for their stock.
