Hi all,

I have a w203 (Facelifted sport coupe) which does not have telephone pre-wiring. Trying to weigh up my options now that my job requires me to drive it more and thus handsfree has become a necessity.

Have had a few quotes for retrofitting pre-wiring but for all the equipment plus the necessary Viseeo unit and fitting (I am not electrically competent!), it is around the £1,000 which is far to much.

At the other extreme is something like a Parrot ck3100 with multican to allow the use of the steering wheel buttons. Does anyone have experience of how easy this is to fit and get working? Do you know if the unit is small enough to hide away somewhere discreet (the ash tray, for example)?

A more integrated option, however, for around £500 incl fitting, seems to be the Tooki MB from Nav TV (TOOKIMB | NAV TV - Leader in OEM Video Integration). I cannot find any reviews of it anywhere (including this forum!) - does anyone have any experience of this? The manufacturer has confirmed that it is compatible with Audio 20 and no pre-wiring, and will display contact details etc. on the dash. Any views as to how good it actually is, audio quality etc would be appreciated.

Any input would be welcome!

Man from Halfords fitted a Parrot 3100 in the ashtray area of my previous 2006 C220 estate with no probs. It was just the basic one tho' without connection to the buttons on the wheel.

I have a tooki mb, works perfectly and is functionally identical to the mb Bluetooth phone solution. It's an easy installation, particularly if you have other optically connected audio components. I have it paired to an iPhone and a blackberry, it imports the phone directories without problem. It's a quality piece of kit, upgradeable firmware, and good support with a user forum

Thanks Paul - that's really useful. Did you fit it yourself? The main bit that worries me is fitting the microphone - is yours located near the mirror? Do you have to take half the trim apart to get it up somewhere along the top of the windscreen?

Yes I fitted mine myself, at the same time as a dension gateway iPod and USB interface. Both of them sit on the fibre bus and installing the pair was easy. The microphone can be installed pretty much anywhere near your head, I put mine where the mb phone mic would have been, there's a small grill in the upper panel in the interior light area. A bit of trim juggling is required, and torx screwdrivers for some trim parts, but it really is a straightforward installation. There is one thing though, you will need to code 'phone present' using Star, or your steering wheel buttons and cluster display won't work. I have my own Star system so it was easy for me, but your dealer will probably rip you off upwards of £50 for what is a five minute job!

Paul,

Phone is already coded as present for the MB ipod kit that I have installed. How do you find the audio quality is? Also, does it allow the voice control of your iphone?

Thanks!

The audio quality is excellent. I don't think my iPhone has voice dialling, the blackberry does but I've never tried it through the tooki. To be honest, using the steering wheel buttons and the display in the cluster makes the phone very easy to use.
