Top end rattle 2002 C180 2.0 petrol - video

My C180 2.O litre petrol (2002) has started making the same noise as in this youtube clip (at 1:40) seconds. The guy never did post what was wrong with it

EDIT: and post 13 "It will be the camshaft advance. Very common issue." As yours sounds like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxdsVoBahhc then that is the answer I would say.

You are welcome.
I am afraid I have no idea what the cost would be. Best call around a couple of independent specialists. As for driving, it really is pot luck, I would say. Me, I would be VERY gentle or not at all but that is only a guess………..this is based on the camshaft controlling the opening and closing of valves (could they be damaged) and worse, the timing chain (could it jump). Like I say, I would be very, very reticent but you could ask the specialist when you get quotes.
