E240 2.6 V6 7 SEATER ESTATE AVANTGARDE
Hi guys & girls,

Silly question but ive got a sneaking suspicion that my torque convertor is causing my w208 E240 2.6 V6 estate gearbox to slip, can the bands inside be tightened to stop this or do we have to look into having it changed?

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions...

Dave

The first thing to do is have the gearbox fluid level checked. If it's OK (however, your symptoms are consistent with low fluid) then get in on a STAR machine and have the fault codes read.

Don't be tempted to put some fluid in the box 'just in case'. Too much can cause serious damage to the transmission.

BTW, the torque convertor doesn't have bands, the auto gearbox does.

Thanks for that, ive had the gearbox oil checked and its fresh, clean and the levels are spot on.. not understanding why its slipping, can be quite bad at times.... im going to reset the ecu and see if it has any effect at all, got to try anything to save me some money or else she'll have to go!
