My 2004 E320 suddenly blew thick black smoke then suffered total power loss. Is this likely to be a major engine problem or could it be something of a lesser issue?

Does any one know of a good Mercedes repair shop in the Cumbria area

Which part of Cumbria? It's a big county!

If you're in the south of the county, Lime Tree Garage at Halton, near Lancaster has served me and other Mercedes-Benz owners well for years. I recommend them very highly - ex-Mercedes master tech with 20 years experience who really knows his stuff. 01524 811063.

you cant leave like that without letting myself and my fellow gentlemen know the cause of your misfortune , what was the problem that caused the black smoke to be ejected from your cars waste gas transportation outlet?

Twas a damaged catalytic convertor
