I decided to visit my mate in Edinburgh for the weekend, and that we'd explore Edinburgh a little at night.

This is a unique sight, you cannot legally drive down Princess street...

Big wheel, bigger than on my C class

I left my new car parked up on a quiet street. I wouldn't want it getting hurt

Yikes, cars can pass it and hurt it. Devistated.

The next day I took it down to a beach nr Coldingham in the Borders

Nice view out the coast

Nice beach too

You do have to treck a bit, the road sadly doesn't go that close to the beach but there is a belting little back road into the village of coldingham and the big beach is great. Nice for a summers day out.

There's another bit of trecking further up the coast at Longriddry

A nice nature reserve

And a sight familiar to Mercedes drivers

Rust. Lots of rust. This is a rusting hulk of a dummy submarine used for target practice in WWII. They are a fair way, I'd recommend parking nr Gullane, walking over the golf course and onto the beach, worth seeing as bar the corrosion the hulks are unique.

The cars alright too ;)

XT-Craft.

Training version of the X-Craft mini submarine (famously used to attack the Tirpitz in Norway).

There are two of these wrecks and they were moored in the bay in 1946 and used as targets for aircraft.

You can just make out in that image the other wreck. Its easier on the big tiff I have...

However, the tide was coming in and didn't fancy my chances snapping the other.

They're very small, I think can only take four people.

Finally a proper car!

My sister's Godfather commanded an X craft in WW2. His is on display at the submarine museum in Gosport. Effectively a massive bomb powered by a London bus diesel engine.

That's pretty much it, they're tiny.

Good for honing target practice on

Slow too apparently move at 4mph
