Tow bar fitting

Hi,
Considering pressing my 2006 GL into caravan towing duty. Are there any recommendations regarding make/type of tow bar (other than MB) and does it need a session on Star to get the lighting controls to work?

I can recommend Witter and P F Jones as suppliers. I’ve used them for my last three cars.
BTW the CLS was a doddle to fit compared to some I’ve done in the past.
Make sure you get the dedicated electrics and no need to use Star.

Westfalia make theofficial towbar kit available from your local Mercedes main dealer, but much, much, much less expensive. I’ve bought both and can confirm they’re identical.

Hi I'm new to towing and just purchased a 15 plate cls 220 shooting brake and looking at a towbar is new and confuses me, I would like a removable 1 and do they come with electrics / as a full pack. And not sure when people say pin plug.how do i no what pin I need and il be towing a small ish trailer for camping berlongings. Thanks in advance nath

I got quoted a grand for the GL with removable swan neck and 13 pin socket. More than I thought TBH.
