Tow bar light on dash constantly on

Hi all

I just bought a w247 (after trading in the previous gen w246). It’s a lovely denim blue B200d amg line prem.

Anyways, the vehicle came with what looks like an aftermarket tow bar with 2x 7pin connections. All good there but on the dash, the tow bar light is on constantly.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is? I spoke to a local tow bar company in Kent and they suggested it most likely be a coding issue which they can code which cost £190!

Does this sound about right in terms of the issue and price?

I had my tow bar coded at the dealers and that cost £140 inc vat and a lone car for the day.

Was that a aftermarket tow bar you had coded?
Was your tow bar light on before and off after coding?
