towbar for E320 convertible W124

I had a tow bar on my E320 coupe. Want one now for my 'vert. Last time I looked into this I was told it was a different kind because the mounts are differetn underneath and the quote was too expensive. Can anyone out there with a tow bar on their E320 (1993-96) please tell me where and how much. Anyone got one I would like it please

There's a company called Watling Engineering who list a bar for the 124 conv however it is the same part number as the coupé. It may be worth a call as they do do custom work.

It may be pertinent that Mercedes do not offer a towbar for any W124 that has sportline suspension. Possibly to do with the limited axle travel.

I read somewhere that if your W124 coupe/cabriolet is a sportline model, due to the fact that it is lower than normal, a tow bar will not fit. I cannot comment on bespoked tow bars as I've not gone down this route.

I put a Watling bracket on my W126 recently - excellent quality and perfect fit . They can even supply one for your 190SL - the PMB 1 fits all ponton models - I have the factory fitted bracket on my 219 and the makers plate lists all the other models it fits , including the 190 SL .

I spoke to David at Watlings. He thinks he's got a bracket that he designed but I cant be sure... its clear that there's no off the shelve jobby for a sportline model looking at the Bosal website. Thanks to all for your help and advice. Guess i may have to leave the bikes!

If anyone does sort out a bar for a Sportline I'd like to know, as I was hoping to get one fitted to mine for pulling a small trailer.

When I spoke to David he said he could custom make one for my sportine coupe for about £500ish.
