Who uses cheques? 🤔

I think that I would have preferred a bank transfer. Glad it appears to have been resolved.
Elderly people (I belive the keeper/driver just celebrated his 100th birthday!) who do not use online banking. See your point, but I do not doubt the honesty one iota

Still surprised that cheque books are available!

I assume that you have to ask your bank for one if you wish to use them?

I have one!! Cant remember the last time I used it though!

EDIT....my wife just called me at work so whilst she was on I got her to look. The last cheque I wrote was to "Post Office Counters Ltd" in Jan 2015.....so that must have been for my very last actual paper tax disc!.......over ten years ago!!

DVLA uses cheques, purchased a car last year where the V5 turned out to be lost so had to pay DVLA £25 to get a V5 in my name. If you don’t know the reg (project car) and have to order from the chassis number, you can’t do it online and they only accept payment by cheque or postal order

Had to think for a while as to where my old cheque book was😵‍💫, then I received the V5 before they cashed the cheque 🤔

If you think cheques are antiquated, can you even still get postal orders 😜

To be accurate, the DVLA accept cheques. They do not use them, plus they do accept card payments for replacement V5 documents. 1000036066.jpg😉

Yep...they do.....I received one back from them having paid for a new license when It was free.......came attached to the bottom of an explanatory letter. This was over a year ago mind.

Thanks., only ever had a refund from them for VED and it was a bank transfer 👍👍

They do accept debit and credit card payments though!

When I requested keeper details from DVLA it was £2.50 by either cheque or postal order (would you believe!) I found an old cheque book lying around in the "will come in handy one day" drawer - last used in 2014...
Banks must still issue books though for the elderly as mentioned earlier

Unsure if the on line only banks issue cheque books?

Don't the DVLA still send out cheques for VED refunds when you sell your car?

Yes they do. I paid one in via a telling machine yesterday.
The receipt even shows a little copy of the cheque.
The road tax for the C Class we just sold was £10 per year. We got a cheque through the post for £4.16p
