Traffic Options for Garmin Map Pilot

Sorry for late reply but I had same problem with my Dec 2015 B220 4matic with Garmin Map pilot. it came with a 3 year subscription to TomTom live traffic which worked fantastically well ( auto re-routing etc). When it expired a few weeks ago I could not find anyone in dealership who could tell me how to renew. After raising a complaint with MB customer service problem easily resolved, Just bought a new sd update card (Garmin Map pilot 2018-2019) and inserted . After usual set up have now got new maps and a new 3 year TomTom subscription. Cost £99 and worth it)

Did you buy the SD card from the main dealer? they normally want silly money.

Any main dealer, make sure you ask for "Update card". Most will tell you it doesn't include TomTom, but Mercedes told me it does if you have already had Tomtom traffic.
or ebay, which worked for me. But obviously check the correct one for your model.

Hi I have an ebay V12 and sat nav works but no live traffic subscription. when i log in to Mercedes me it says Live Traffic Information is unfortunately not available for your A 220 d AMG Line vehicle due to the hardware

Not all cars had the live traffic option.

Check your car's Datacard and see if it has this option:

'B54 Live Traffic Information'

If it does not, then you don't have live traffic.

You cannot renew via Mercedes me. You can only renew via the update card. And as stated if you have b54. The dealer or correct ebay card is the only way. But beware not all ebay cards will include traffic.

Cards came with car ? Original one still in box V12 in SD slot but no traffic but as car is 3 years old thought the subscription had run out ?

As V12 is the latest map, then I would suspect it is an eBay card without the traffic, which is the case with most of the cheap ones, unless advertised with traffic, which lasts for three years.

This would explain while the website is saying that your car lacks compatibile hardware.

Your car is probably equipped with Audio20 (not COMAND) which uses the Garmin Map Pilot software and the Garmin Live Traffic service.

Correct. But the live traffic on Garmin map pilot audio 20 is supplied by Tomtom. Not only confuses customers it also confuses most dealers.

Ok bit of a update and good news. Bit the bullet bought the Map Update from MB Newcastle electronic shop on ebay £99.99. SDcard arrived.

Took out old card inserted new and went through install. Installed ok.


Not happy, rang MB Newcastle say it should work suggest i take to local MB Dealer. Got up this morning in car on way to Dealer. Turn on sat nav and what do i see ?

Happy days. This despite Mercedes me saying i don't have the hardware installed exfactory

What Mercedes are saying is "you don't have the hardware installed for ONLINE updates". You went through exactly the same traumas as I did. and you have now got 60 days of free updates (if any).

All this hassle is unnecessary with Apple Carplay/Android Auto IMHO.
