If you measure your fluid level using the flexible wire type of dipstick, rather than the proper one then you will be getting an incorrect reading.
The reason is that the proper one when fully inserted does not touch the bottom of the sump...whereas the wire type does. This will lead you to conclude that you box is overfilled.
