When should the Transmission Fluid be changed. I've got a 16 plate C Class Diesel with 38000 on the clock. Many Thanks.

Check out the MB Electronic Service Sheet on the MB website. Just need to enter your car details

If it's the 7 speed, anything that meets 236.14 spec (last I checked). The cheapest is usually Shell ATF 134 although there will be other brands.

OK thanks
Where in London are you?

I had my transmission fluid changed here : https://www.prestigecarservice.co.uk/

Well worth the journey, they are very highly regarded by many o the forum ;) It only took around 90 minutes from drop off to being ready as well.

I'm in North London, near Islington. How much did they charge you?. I couldn't see on the MB electronic service where it tells me when I should have the Transmission Fluid changed!!!!.

MB changed their minds about change intervals, I have seen 37,000 miles and 54,000 miles stated, my view is that a fluid change is cheaper than a new transmission.

I was charged £200 last Autumn for parts, labour and VAT. That was for a full change of all fluid including the Torque converter.

If it is a 2016 with stop start I am fairly sure it will be 5 years or 77,500 miles, whichever comes first.

Thanks,, that's not too expensive.

Thanks, yeah it's a 2016 with stop/start,, cheers,, good to know.

Thanks all,, I was told when I had my last Merc that the TF needed changed at 40000 miles which I got done. If I remember right.

My local Benz dealer told me 62k miles or 5 years. Which ever comes first

It depends on the gearbox, but it will either be on time or an equivalent multiple of 15.5k miles. So it would be 62k miles/4 years or 77.5k miles/5 years. I would ask your dealer to check again.
