Car
GLE 350
Hi all. I have a 2016 GLE 350d 4matic, and a couple of weeks back experienced a strange gearchange issue, in that, as I accelerated, the car seemed reluctant to change up through the gears, and once on a motorway, wouldn't go above 7th. The manual + paddle did nothing (no "M" indication), and coming off the motorway, would not change down using the paddle, but did so automatically as I slowed down. Got home O.K., checked next day but all was fine!
Since then I've towed our caravan up to Yorkshire, had a couple of trips to York - all fine.
Today, the same thing happened, on a return trip from the supermarket. Reluctant to change up, and paddles inoperative. I stopped at the side of the road, stopped the engine, restarted, all good again, manual changing too.
Anyone experienced anything similar?

TIA

Sounds like an engine issue causing limp home mode . When you reset the ignition you effectively reset the fault ,until it happens again. You'd need a scan doing to find stored codes ,and hopefully an answer to why.

For info:
Checked error codes - none showing, though this was only using a cheapish device.
Took the car to a local independent Mercedes garage. Apparently the car went into partial limp mode (as per OneForTheRoad). Advice is to change the transmission oil & filter, which is recommended at 77500 miles (mines done 80K). It's due a service in January, so booked it in for the oil change at the same time
Said they'd check for historic codes.
Since then, I've driven around 300 miles, some towing the caravan, with no further issues.

It should of been done in 2021 tbh , year 5 . Along with the front diff oil change .

Have you had the car since new and if so, was the ATF changed at 5 years or are you aware of this.
Mine is the smaller engined gle, got new in 2016 - ATF changed at 5 years, As the car is very low miles at now stands at
sub 24k miles, I did however notice a slightly more eager gear change before the AFT change.
Good luck.
