I changed my transmission oil and filter on 4/07/22 by Mercedes specialist at 82000 mile.I noticed good response and the car drives more smooth etc.I wanted to do it myself but when I looked at the parts and tools price, very small difference, I decided to used specialist. They charge.1hour 40 minutes.

How much did they charge ?
Did they drain the torque converter ?

Welll, both parts and labour £198.Torque converter not done, the mechanic said they don’t do that anymore and
Am Not borther as well bcos if I do it myself I will not do the torque converter. I asked for the oil That was taking out and they put a bit in glass container and was still very green.Which mean the one in Torque converter will still good as well.

Interesting, mine was really dirty when it was changed, the magnets and sump were filthy after 44,000 miles.
Maybe yours had been changed more recently.

The OP say's the fluid that came out was green . My guess is it must have been replaced pretty recently prior to this service. And the previous service might have been a 'full' TC and cooling line flush . 🤷‍♂️

Am not sure may be change by previous owner,,but the car mileage is 82000 and I was panicked that it must be due because I don’t have previous records except few receipts for tyres, breakpad, mot etc and service but nothing show Transmission service.I got the car 2019 2012 plate.I contacted previous owner mechanic but unable to get any information from them.
No issue with the transmission before service and all well now as well.
Mastertech assist did ATF service for me.

Should of contacted Mercedes main agent for record of previous ATF change ( 5 years / 77,500) , it's entered on Mercedes Star diagnostic system and uploaded to the Motherland so even independents with Star can access it .

It really is a walk away issue if overdue or no record.

Not green enough though , it took away the response time and smoothness . 😼

I bought my e350 from an Arnold Clarke franchise, 3 years old and only 11k on the clock. At 5 years old to the day the gearbox service light appeared, still only on 20k I had to bite the bullet and have it done , close to £400 , it was probably still new oil also.

Not for me it wouldn't be, if the transmission showed no sign of any problem. I'd get it changed right after purchase, though; it's cheap enough, and then you know it's been done.

Nice little earner for the dealer, that, for a job that didn't actually need doing...

If you go by time it did need doing 👍

I had thought about just leaving it tbh.

For a transmission fluid change, I don't. It's use, not time, that causes transmission fluid to degrade. I'd have left it for at least another 20-30K miles.

If I was buying your car at five years old with only 20K miles on the clock, if you told me the transmission fluid was due for a change I'd want a discount of at least £1...

Then you read about moisture degrading the oil, and spending £400 on what cost me £22k was neither here nor there. It's all a lottery I suppose 😜.

Oh God no , I did just that , walked away from an Alabandine S204 that had a 6 year and not a 5 year 236.15 ATF change , intervals are intervals and with the complexity and possible issues of the 7g+ , never worth it , ever....

Your money, your choice...
