Into the Dealers today for auto transmission oil change on my A205. Decided to get it done by a Dealer as firstly it’s a job needs doing carefully and I want full come back if it goes wrong, plus the biggest cost is the oils and my Merc independent said they wouldn’t be competitive.

Started off well when the service advisor told me the car was in for a A service and transmission oil change. It isn’t I said, just the transmission work, if you check you’ll see service history is up to date (my independent has Star👍) I commented that as the price quoted must have included the service then the transmission only work must be less cost👍 lets see how they get around that eh😉

Next up was a nice man who briefed that as I was a current customer he had been authorised by MB to consult with me about my future car needs. Awfully nice of MB to do that eh. To head him off at the pass on what could’ve been a long session I explained that as Mercedes had decided not to build a new C Class Cabriolet we would be wasting our time, but if they ever did then please get in touch.

So I now have a 21 plate C Class Schneezel Coupe to play with four the day. Nice car, lovely lines and lots of flashing lights and new tech driving display. For me it’s the detail that matters and this car has no 360 camera display, not even a front camera. Couldn't find Car Play - on a 21 reg car!! It comes in black faux leather/plastic and I’m a sucker for the light interior. Still it’s fun to drive for a day so am not complaining. IMG_2023-10-20-100534.jpeg

What was the outcome on price?

Worth every penny then 👌🏻
Yes, am happy to pay whatever it takes on these transmissions, and imho and to be fair this particular Dealer comes cross as a cut above others I’ve met when it comes to servicing. The vehicle health check found no issues and was done well so all good. Another road trip around Europe in 2024 in the car and it gives confidence that at 5.5 yrs old all is so good. Regular servicing reduces risks eh.
