I'm new here and I was given a 2001 E240 Merc couple of years ago and all was ok until a few days ago. I don't drive the car much, in fact I've only done around 1000 miles since I've had it so its sitting in the driveway most of the time. A few days ago I took for a 4 mile journey and the gearbox shifted out of gears couple of times. When I got home I noticed oil leak on the floor. Removed the plastic cover under the car and not only there was oil around the gearbox but much more around the radiator area. Found a pipe going into the side if the radiator to have eroded away. I cannot locate the part number or a supplier for this. I'm assuming this is some kind of a cooling system and at first I thought it maybe the engine oil but the oil level on the engine hasn't moved that much and the colour seems a bit different but its hard to say. I don't have any experience with Mercs, I could be wrong. Can anyone please help. Much appreciated.
