So I'm travelling sunday, and realised my old travel insurance expired...

I'm not too fussed about travel insurance, but I must have camera insurance as I'm travelling with about £2000 worth of equipment...

Any recomendations? Online is a must due to the time limitations...

E&L is a company I refuse to go with, they are, to quote a colleague "a bunch of thieving scumbags"

I have my camera equipment covered by my house contents policy, accidental damage/loss in or way from the home, inlcuding if such occurs whilst abroad.

I ended up giving Glover & Howe a call... as always I call the customer services department as I want to see how quickly and courteously they answer... Got an answer immediately and explained my situation.

I got a quote of £80, which will cover all my kit, and they would accept the forms via email to speed things up. I'm VERY pleased!

As for travel/medical, I'm not too fussed... I have medical from my company which covers most of the world, travel from Amex and HSBC and finally am travelling to meet my family in India (on this trip at least) - so again not too worried...

Funny thing is, once I typed my serials down and values, it all added up to £2,500 - which is pretty close to what I was expecting!
Thanks :D

Hi Michele,
Good luck with the trip and it would be great if you could either post some pictures of your trip, or perhaps e-mail me some (please)

I love looking at foreign informal pictures (not the typical touristy type Taj Mahal images)

Have a nice trip

Yours sincerely
John

Sorry to start an old thread but can someone please point out from experence where i can get cheap travel insurance for about a week to USA?
The online quotes ae driving me insane.

Glover and Howe have given me no trouble - but then again, my only claim was for a £40 service/clean up after I forgot the camera in my back yard overnight in the rain :p

We use AllClear but have existing medical conditions that they also cover. Used Boots before and they were not too bad on price. It seems that a lot use the same claim handlers in the UK.

Who do you bank with? I have free travel insurance world wide via Barclays - maybe your bankers may offer the same..

Very few offer 'proper' travel insurance.

I use flexicover and find them very reasonable.

Interesting - I went through mine thoroughly and even spoke with the underwriters so that they were fully aware of all pre-existing conditions and they are now covered too....so what do you define as "proper"?

One that covers both myself and my kit :p

Few non-specialist insurers cover scuba-diving, skiing, or high value items (laptops, camera gear, u/w camera gear, etc). Most have a limit on single items and hundreds of get out clauses...
