Does anyone have a personal recommendation of a good travel insurance company that covers pre existing chronic medical conditions? The company I have used previously have closed down

If anyone here works in this industry and can help get a good deal / discount please PM me.

Thanks.

Tescos are understanding but will load. Do you have a bank account that gives free travel insurance? We use Barclays and they accepted all our pre-existing conditions for which Tescos charged extra.

+1 Barclays. They covered my mother (who has had one heart attack) with no problems, but she did it via their Barclays Premier cover. Also gives you AA membership inter alia.

Thanks, I am with Barclays and have already checked previously and they wont cover the condition.

I use these people - https://www.fastweb.co.uk/miaonline/

Mrs M has Mulitple Sclerosis (and I have sleep apnea) - they cover her for our foreign jaunts.

However, I've never had cause to claim so can't comment on that side of the service.

This is a very specialist business and there aren't many companies that do cover. MIA I found were the most thorough going through the medical information which inspired confidence.

Thanks will give them a try.

Also just found a company called World First who specialise in covering pre existing medical conditions. Their medical screening asked questions related to my conditon no other site has asked so it seems to be good. Their price is also the best so far.

Cheap Travel Insurance for Holidays, Medical Conditions, Backpackers, Over 65's and much more

Strange - they declined my wife's conditions that Barclays will cover -- strange how they all work

Fortis Travel Insurance - covers me and Mrs. T for a variety of conditions - have claimed twice now, with no real arguments, except that they want unequivocal proof of the reason for the claim.

AA Travel - Just insured with them for a trip to Brazil so that my meds for my RA are covered (The injections are £75 a pop  plus 5 other prescription drugs) and only £25 Extra.

I suppose it all depends on which particular condition, but I've used these people for several years:

Travel Insurance UK - Cheap Annual Holiday Insurance

Their cover seems good (I normally go for a Gold annual policy) and the premiums are reasonable. They have no problem with my diabetes or the fact that my wife has previously had medical issues (not a chronic condition, but notifiable for insurance purposes nonetheless).

HTH,

Also try getmy.com I use them as I have a pre-existing condition and they always seem to come in cheaper than anyone else.

You can actually screen on-line which is nice and quick and it will give you the option to exclude the pre-existing condition if you want as I do for shorter trips.

They are very reputable and actually are the underwriter and operator for a number of big name insurance companies but this is their own brand product.

+1 for flexicover.

Paul's had a stroke before (whilst away covered by Boots insurance) and we struggle as it's also left high blood pressure, cholesterol and epilepsy as side effects!! They were great, we have a family policy and had to claim when my daughter decided to arrive 5 weeks early when we were in the US!

Thanks. Flexicover will cover but have been told to stay away from policys underwritten by AXA.

Will be going for a policy from Fortis they seem to be highly recommended. You can only purchase via a broker though. The Post Office travel insruance is underwritten by Fortis.

I've used Insureandgo.com in the past.

They've covered me for RA, kidney stones, hernia, metal screws in feet, etc. without any surcharge. However, they did want a £10 supplement to cover my wife for ME (otherwise known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)!!
