Hello all, haven't posted for quite a while due to various reasons and now I find myself in need of help from you learned people on here. Had a puncture yesterday which can't be repaired so I need to replace it. Tyre size is 265/35/18 and I have Goodyear Eagle F1's fitted all round. Looked on Tyre leader and they have a Asymmetric 2 which is about £150 but was made in 2013 and I'm not sure if buying a 5 year old tyre is a good idea? The other 1 is a Asymmetric 3 for over £300 which is double what I paid for my current 1's. I've had a look at Oponeo, Mytyres and so on but most suppliers don't seem to stock Goodyear. I called a local reputable supplier and he had the same problem with his suppliers, don't stock them so does anyone have any suggestions please because at the moment the only option open to me is to change both rear tyres to another brand?
Thanks in advance
Tom.

Do they still make F1 ? You need a tyre expert on the forum to comment, I would have thought F3 is what you will be able to buy if you want new rubber. But what do I know?

Try one of the 'Tyres On The Drive' type outfits. My local (actually is tyresonthedrive) crowd had Goodyear F3s in stock, at sensible prices - less than £400 for two for my E63, and that has 19" wheels; 18" should be cheaper.

Just tried them but no Goodyears listed.

I agree that F3 will probably be my only option, if only I could find one lol.

I bought a set recently for my E Class, they are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, it s the latter number that signifies the latest version.

I tried to get hold of some for the MX5 but could not find any so I contacted Goodyear and received a prompt reply telling me that new stock should be available in September.

I really can't wait until September so I may have to go with an Asymmetric 2 that I've just found on a website local to me.

What price were you quoted?

When in stock a couple of weeks ago I paid £148 each supplied and fitted for that size from Blackcircles.

When I was looking a few weeks ago most websites listed them including ASDA, my local tyre specialist also had them on their site although at £30 a pair more than Blackcircles at the time but had just fitted the last two in stock.

But how old are they?

Tyres degrade with age and exposure to UV light etc.

The OP quoted over £300 per tyre...

Tyreleader quoted £111 for a asymmetric 2 and £358 for a asymmetric 3. Looks like I'm gonna go with Carlpea's suggestion of the 2 asymmetric 3's on ebay, 2 asymmetric 3's for £287.

Blackcircles are showing nil stock.

+1

I just removed late 2012 Good Year Ef-Grip's from my clk which were only half worn but badly degraded and probably not far off a blowout. Was chuffed to see the replacements (from camskill) were only a few months old.
