Trusted MB Indie,for servicing, in the NW/Lancashire Area.

Hi,

I have tracked down the names of two MB Indies for servicing in Lancashire,within a 20mile radius.
M-B Services Direct,based in Darwen,near Blackburn and run by a couple of former MB Technicians,since 1998 and with some experience under their belts.Secondly,124 Works based in Kirkham,Lancashire,whom has been mentioned once in this forum before.
Caution must be applied here,as it is not unknown for someone to log on under a pseudonym to promote their business,to the detriment of some excellent members providing these services - but has anyone any direct experience of using either of these two Indies,or any others in Lancashire/Mancheter area ?

Hi Timster,

I am due a 'B' service,but not for 4-5 months - I will probably have this done by the mb dealership,which I await with trepidation,but once the approved used warranty expires,I am looking for an honest and reliable indie I can build a good long term relationship with - (incidentally I am talking car servicing here !!!!!!).I have a c180k Sports Coupe,Auto,55 plate and have heard on previous threads that an ATF change is advised either after 4 years,or anything between 35/40k - 70k miles,even though on later vin numbers,they are supposedly sealed for life - it is suggested that it is advisable to have it done at least once - so I guess after my 'B' service,I will possibly be confronted with that in the next 18 months.Anyway,not wishing to stray to far of my original post,the question still remains - a highly recommended indie that member s have used in the North West/Lancashire/Manchester area.

Hi Ian,

Somewhere buried in the forum/threads regarding MB Specialist Services,it appears someone had posted up a rather flattering endorsement of themselves,though I was at great pains to point out that this in no way should reflect on genuine providers of such services,so no offense was intended and accept my apologies to all such members,if any was given.As you know I have e-mailed you through your website address and will hopfully telephone later this week.As you know,there are the good and the bad in all things mb.I was recently recommended a site,Euromerc.com,by a member for some parts and the service provided by Nick was excellent and and we do not praise people often enough for that - its all about mutually supporting each other.

I can thoroughly recommend Ian and 124works as they do treat cars with the respect they deserve. I used to pop up to Kirkham once in a while to get bits and bobs done, however I would get my car serviced at a local garage - an MB independent.

However, this local indie has got lots of work on and although very successful, they no longer have that customer retaining focus, they don't even reply to phone calls. Hence, what started with just having the complicated jobs done on my car by Ian has now extended to him servicing my dad's and brother's cars too.

My car is a '94 W202, my dad's is a 98 W210 and my brothers a 2000 W202. All 3 will be looked after by 124works from now on.

Hi Travelininstyle.

I discoverd Ian at Works124 through this forum and I very happy with the work he has done on my w124coupe.

I had used some local services before but I thought they lacked the knowledge needed from an Merc Indy but giving the car to Ian in last 6 months has been a real treat.

The guy just has a passion for the marque which reflects in the mans work and i have since recommeded him to others.
