didn't go for Command in the end :0(

I was basically in for the thick end of £800 for sat nav functionality, not sure i'm going to use/need it that much...

anyway, bought a head unit that will give me all the functionality i need ('cept sat nav) and is compatible with my CD changer.

but i can't make it work!!!

i figure that i will be taking it to an installer, but before i do, maybe if i describe what i've done, there may be a helpful hint

i connect the NEW pioneer head unit up in an identical fashion to the way the OLD pioneer head unit was connected

I have a relay and fuse sitting across the 3 power connections (constant, ISO and wiring harness)

problem: no sound....

the cd in the unit works
the cd changer is being controlled
the tuner is tuning

so i am confident power is getting there

but no sound

i have checked all connections and there are none loose

I experience no sound but a working unit with and without the relay/fuse in the setup

seems odd everything else works, just no sound at all?

any helpful hints would be gratefully received...

Very odd ! Is the half of the ISO adapter with the 8 speaker connections seated properly in the Socket on the back of the HU ? That would explain why the power and other functionality works, and the sound doesnt ?

** EDIT**

Sorry - you said you had checked connections, didn't you.

Does the other unit work when you plug it back in ? If so, then sounds like a faulty half of the ISO plug/socket on the new HU

** EDIT EDIT**

Or maybe you have mute activated somehow ?

thx for reply

problem is my old head unit doesn't work (ruined whilst theft being attempted) so i don't have a benchmark :0(

yep ISOs are both OK

pretty sure the mute is off, because the bare wire of the mute cable touched the casing and turned mute ON (ooops), i then connected it to the yellow mute cable and the mute notification on the fascia turned off

i have also played with all posisble settings through the front of the head unit to make sure i am not "muting" or have SLA at min

i think it is either something a specialist needs to look at (i.e. there is some bizarre voltage/ampage balancing to do with the speaker connections (like you'd expect for the POWER connections)), or the unit is faulty

the unit didn't feel brand new when i took it out of the box (ie. the little stickies and staples that seal the plastic bags with nuts bolts and the manual in it were previously opened)

bugg*er, i wanted to go to birmingham with music tomorrow...

help!

any more de

ISO Plug damaged whilst theft attempted ?

Sounds like it needs checking out properly, but might be worth just getting the unit replaced first from wherever you bought it - every chance that its a dodgy one !

its not set to pre-out only is it?

if not - sounds like a dead HU - 99% of the time they are plug-n-play
