Honda Accord; W176 A Class on Order !!
Hi. I remember someone saying that the A180 CDI engine in our (manual box) cars is actually the Renault sourced 1.5 DCI unit. In which case does anyone know if a diesel tuning box for that engine would fit our cars ?

Found a great price on this unit on Ebay. The seller is actually http://www.tdi-tuning.co.uk/ - who if you know about them, are actually one of the most reputable tuning box companies in the UK.
Normally their boxes sell for around £400, so these units they are doing at £82.99 (+best offer) are an absolute steal !

I've asked them the question on Ebay, but would be helpful if any of you technically minded folk could shed some light on this.

Thanks.

Why would you want to jepodise your new car warranty for £85? :wallbash:

You pay for what you get and all that....

Tuning boxes are not all bad, Kleemans do a good one and I had a £700 JB+ tuning box for my 135i but on the whole must are shocking and are very crude in nature. My JB box tricked the ECU to thinking the car was at a higher altitude increasing the boost which was clever, but most just mess with the fuel system and some are just a box of useless resistors.

Please steer clear at that price.

Consider a remap that will provide warranty if you want more power or go down a very reputable route where you have done huge research if you want a box, but since the engine is so new I am not sure you will find one.

You might also find the "box" Renault wiring loom connectors may not fit the A class wiring loom connectors? Which may involve a bit of rewiring of the box with suitable connectors to fit the A CLASS

Never use a box, only remap

^ Brabus box's seem pretty good?

I would be weary!

Not all boxes are created equal, after much dyno and road testing of my A Class there are only a few boxes I could recommend and they start at £350 (Trade price!!)

Cheers Matt

Isn't that an ECU replacement and not a 'tuning' box?
