Hello everyone.
Have just joined the group and hope this post is in the correct place.
I have a2009 Vito 115 and has 325.000 miles on it.
Was driving down the road when I thought the exhaust manifold had gone .
Had a look when I got home and discovered the turbo body exhaust side had lost all 5 of the washers and bolts.
Van was running fine before this my question is has anyone else experienced this and more to the point why.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards mark

Wow.....not seen that happen before....

No, or me, but then again, I’ve not seen many Mercs with 325k miles either. 😆

At 325K miles it is possibly not the original turbo but the original bolts were re used and not torqued properly. Is there any way of knowing if the all 'went' at the same time ? or one at a time.

Either way its an odd one.

It’s still on the original turbo I’ve had it from new. The turbo cartridge feels great with no movement in the bearings.
Have ordered the 5 missing bolts and washers and put it back on.
Wouldn’t mind getting another turbo but just can’t see anything wrong with this one.
What do you think . Good or bad move.

If this was the only fault then keep running it until it fails 👍😁

If the original one is still working - keep it .

In the eventuality that it fails at some point , you'd be in the same place as if you'd bought one now .

Aaaahhhhh a new puzzle for you clever people.
Have put the vnt disc back in its locating hole and bolted the flange back .my mate said you can’t just put it in the van like that it needs to be calibrated as it’s got a electronic waste gate.
I said the position hasn’t altered but he still thinks it should go for calibration.
Any thoughts on this would really be appreciated.

I doubt it ....i replaced the whole turbo but from memory the vanes are in the back half and the cartridge mounts from the front.....so should not have been disturbed. No doubt an OM642 turbo expert will be along shortly to prove me wrong!

Hhmmmmm . On balaance then think I’ll go ahead and bolt it back up and see what happens. Thanks for the input.
