turbo noise ?

hi all. am having a few issues with my ml 2001 270 cdi brabus d4

i have a weird whistle type noise coming from the turbo area at around 1800-2200 rev range. have been told it is probably not the turbo but the bypass bit that allows the boost when not needed to bypass through the exhaust ?

any thoughts

Google turbo wastegate 99% of turbos are the same design.

I'd like to update that topic.
Does anyone knows if that kind of noise comes from the wastegate ?
So do I need to replace it... ?
