My Dad is after a new telly to replace his Sony one that 'apparently' the remote control had an argument with, breaking the screen!! We believe you Dad!

Anyway, what he would like is a 39" or 40" full HD LED TV with the 4 Freeview HD channels. He is not interested in a 'Smart TV'. He likes John Lewis and won't buy one unless it comes with a 5 yr warranty. He will buy from elsewhere as long as he gets the warranty he wants included. He also wants to spend sub £400.

What's the best he can get for his money at the moment with everything mentioned above included?

He does drive a hard bargain:D for an old boy

    Worth checking Costco's stock.
Good prices plus 5 years warranty included :)

I'd look at Richer Sounds, very competitive prices and some with free 5 years warranty, they also provide excellent service in my experience

+1 on Richer Sounds, you can normally haggle in the shop and get either some more money off or a deal on a warranty.

That's a good deal, RS do it for a tenner less, but that's in-store only.

    So he's not stupid because:

    1. It's a good deal.
    2. You're setting it up.

Pity he downsized- as I always point out-- smaller screen = smaller print size on the screen menus = more difficult to read for older people.:dk:

Very true and my parents are both 80 so I did point this out and that eyesight generally doesn't get better with age, but he was adamant a larger one would look out of place in his sitting room.

Yes, I saw it a tenner cheaper in richer sounds but he likes john Lewis and I reserved online and accidentally went past JL whilst working today and my van fitted in their collection bay nicely so no messing with trying to park a van in town :)
