So I sat in a long traffic jam tonight watching Storage Hunters (brrrr).

Each time I moved and got to 1mph the picture switched off (though the sound stays on).

A biker sat behind me and appeared to be watching it with me - this got me wondering what the legal position is on watching TV in motion (albeit in very very slow motion)?

Any thoughts?

The legal position is that it's illegal.

At 1mph you are deemed to be driving.

Have you ever seen such a rigged TV programme? It's awful and cringeworthy.

Dog - if it wasn't for Beth's fabulous assets I wouldn't watch it.

Anyway - back on topic please panel.

Watching TV while driving is indeed illegal, for good reason.

I've always jumped on Vid In Motion requests on here, as it's dangerous, however, this is the MB fitted system.

It may not be at 1mph, it may be as soon as the wheels turn and 1mph is just the lowest reading available.

It's the legal position I'm curious about.

"Under Regulation 109 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, it is an offence to drive a motor vehicle on a road if the driver is in such a position as to be able to see, whether directly or by reflection, a television screen showing anything other than information:

(a) about the state of the vehicle or equipment;
(b) about the location of the vehicle and the road on which it is located;
(c) to assist the driver to see the road adjacent to the vehicle;
(d) to assist the driver to reach his destination."
