Will the digital switchover affect the TV on my 2003 W215 ? Must admit I hardly ever use it, but it seems to have lost picture on all channels when I last checked.

Cheers

I imagine it that it had an analogue only tuner in 2003. No doubt you can buy an add on device to provide you with digital TV channels at a price!

if you have an analogue tuner already you can use the aux ports to add an aftermarket digital tuner, this s fairly inexpensive.... or you can get an oem mb ne which costs a bomb

Thanks Alps - where would I get one from, any ideas as to brand name etc to give me a guide ?

Cheers

Guess you need something with composite video output and stereo rca output for sound. Check what input the MB tuner has.

Search ebay or google for digital tv tuners plenty about. Veba are one. http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/veba-avdvbt-freeview-digital-receiver-p-829.html

Ones made by Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood and other big brands probably wont have the above outputs and wont work as the interfaces will be specifically for their own brand headunits.

BTW Wirrall has already had the analogue signal completely switched off.

What about car radios ? Will they all need replacing ?

We are talking about analogue and digital tv not radio. If analogue radio was switched off the same would happen you would not get any radio stations unless you had a DAB tuner.

PJH has a point, IIRC analogue radio is due to be switched off in about 5 years???? So will all car radios need an upgrade at that point too?

That is interesting. Personally I hadnt heard anything about analogue radio being switched off by the end off 2015 but a quick google search shows this is the case though local stations will continue to use fm.

Digital Britain: Analogue radio switch-off set for 2015 | Technology | guardian.co.uk

The switchover will be announced two years in advance and not until digital accounts for 50% of all radio listening, said the report.

The absence of in-car digital radio has hampered further takeup of the new technology, but the government has today recommended that all new car radios sold in the UK by the end of 2013 should be digital.

Hi, I would like to upgrade my TV to digital, has anyone done this and if so what parts did they use, where from and at what cost?
