Hi

I want to mount my new Panasonic 47" LED TV above the fireplace, as it will be quite high I assume that I will have to buy a mount that can tilt.

Can anyone recommend a mount that will get the TV as close to the wall as possible and is reasonable value for money.

In the past I have used Vogel mounts, and whilst they do a mount that fits the bill, its around £100 and compared to some other brands on the market its seams a lot, considering generally mount prices have fallen over the past few years.

One website that specialises in mounts has them as low as £10, but surely they can't be any good, can they?

Thanks in advance

Tan

Can't be really helpful other than to say its the one location that I have always thought does not work due to the comfort of the viewing angle....

Hi Tan

I'm in a similar position and have opted for a tilting bracket. This will keep the plane of the screen level with your eyes when viewing. Don't fit it flat on your wall or the picture quality will be rubbish.

Have a look at the Logik 3 bracket in Currys for starters .....

I picked one up from The Range, paid around £20 for a tilt bracket. Main reason why I went for this one was it looked a lot more sturdy than others I had seen on the net.

I believe that for optimal viewing the bottom of the set should be 600mm from the floor. You can then mount flat to the wall.

I spoke to a friend of a friend who is a high end Av installer/calibrator.

He told me that a mount is a mount and once they are fixed to the wall, the £10 one will do the same job as the £100 one.

As long as it has the features and is rated to carry the weight of the TV then there is no problem.

The £20 one I went for was a slimmer profile than the expensive one which was approx £100 in richer sounds.

I modified my bracket slightly with a little welding as I wanted to fix it to the stud work but still wanted it to be dead centre on the wall.

The OP is not fitting the screen at this height but above a fireplace - it needs to be tilted.

Yeah, I know. I wouldn't dream of mounting it there. (Stiff neck syndrome!! :p)
