R class 350CDI
Hi all,

First post, so not sure if this has been covered before from my brief investigation of how this forum works.

I’ve bought an R class 350CDI 2011 running on 20” rims.
I knew when I bought it the tyres were the wrong profile 245/45/20 vs std 265/45/20.
The loss of sidewall is frustrating on our scabby roads, but I’m less bothered about the overall tyre width as it’s no sports car and I’m pretty sure Merc specced the wider tyre for the look rather than grip.
Has anyone ventured from the standard fitment sizes?
I was thinking perhaps 245/50/20, which is a little under 1% increase from the original fit diameter, but would give a touch more sidewall deflection/rim protection.

Any thoughts and advice appreciated,

Savs

Can you not go down to 18" or 19" rims?

Whatever you do if you go from "standard"don't forget to advise your insurers.

Good luck.
