Tyre pressure readout?

I was wondering if there was a way to get the system to show the actual pressure of the tyres, instead of just saying "check tyre pressure". Surely it's measuring the pressure somehow, as it knows when it's low... Or is it doing some other fancy tricks to figure it out?

If my 2005 CLS Can, yours will be able to.

Scroll through the menu's and you will find one of a picture of your car with the tyre readouts.

Wouldn't the actual pressure readout only be available on cars fitted with the sensors to the wheels rather than the other system that uses the ABS sensors to show if a wheel is rotating at a different speed to the others?

I believe most systems calculate a difference in wheel speed via the abs sensor. So the car knows a difference from when it was last set but not an exact ammount it is different by, hence the "check pressure"

The cars with an actual readout I have no idea.
