Hey guys
some further advice. I managed to get my PS4S fronts from Ben Patey @ £140 each. Just looking at the rears and apart from profile size can anyone tell me why there is such a price difference between these. This is via Camskill

Load rating:
100 = 800kg each tyre
104 = 900kg each tyre
And yet the cheapest are the higher weight rated.

MO1 = AMG recommended and yet they are the cheapest out of the 2.
(MO = Mercedes recommended).

The above ratings would suggest that the cheaper tyres are a better buy, until you look at the info below.

Fuel efficiency and wet grip ratings are lower on the cheaper tyres. I’m not sure why though as they are both PS4S.

I guess the question is what size do you require and do you think the reduced fuel efficiency and wet grip ratings outweigh the cost saving. £105 a corner is a huge price saving.

first is a 30 aspect ratio
second is a 35 aspect ratio

This is not a comparison of like for like, however the difference in price is too high to justify the (marginal) extra effort required to make the lower aspect ratio.
There are other commercial factors that might mitigate the lower price e.g. the MO1 designation; they may well produce far more stock of these because of the manufacturing supply chain, agreements with retailers, promotions etc.

Thanks Ian

Its probably supply and demand. More vehicles using the cheaper 35 tyre. Sales volume reduces manufacturing costs and encourages greater competition. Niche smaller volume specialist tyres will be more expensive.
