Is this the worst tyre wear rate you have ever seen? I put two new Falken 452s on the rear of the car on April 20th this year with the car having covered 69682 miles. Yesterday July 8 they were worn to the markers at 73157 miles.

That’s 3475 miles or 79 days. I’m trying Dunlop SP Sport Max’s now as these were available to replace ther Falkens.

Okay – the car is great fun but looking back at my records the best tyre wear I have had has only been 8000 miles. (Clearly I am too heavy of the gas....):o

There or there abouts :D

A mate of mine was given a Cavalier SRi and did much the same thing.... he hated the car though

Could be worse ...

My sone managed just over 1500 miles on the front of his Mk 4 Golf Gti Turbo. That was with Fulda Carat Excelero. He's moderating things a little now that the new ones are installed.

Have they worn fairly evenly or is there a problem with geometry/suspension link/s being worn?

I think you'll find that the accelerator linkage is pretty well worn out...

:D

Maybe the problem is under the bonnet rather than wrapped around the rear wheels:p

Mind you, all this talk reminds me of the time when I shredded off the tread leaving Kweek Feet!

I reckon 0 miles has to be the best

The tyres were worn evenly across the tread - so no geometry problem :) (but maybe the Quaife LSD is earnings its money) ;)

The Dunlop should last a bit longer but can be very noisy....Try Vredestein tyres next time....amazing wear, even for the heavy booted driver..

With an AMG 55 Engine .........what do you expect!
I am sure you had alot of fun though!

Perfect wear too. Must be your heavy hand Peter....

Poor driving technique - no reason why 452s should wear that quickly - the Maser lot get double that!

agree. had them on 208 55 ..

last twice as long as Pirellis

Goodyear eagle F1's lasted only 8,000miles on the rear of my E320cdi, that's my worst mileage on rear tyres ever!

Thanks for sharing how little you got, it makes me feel SO SO so much better about my terrible wear!! :bannana:

@ Ronnie, i just put Vredestein's on the back yesterday as they were half price and highly recommended as amazing wear although fun in the wet - i'll see how i get on.

I've had eagle assymetrics on my fronts for 12k miles encounting... there's so much tread left i think i can drive it for another 6k easy... (my rears have gone through a pair of falkens semi-worn and on a pair of assymetrics now!)

I'm finding the merc very good on tyres, getting 15-20k on the back, 20-30 on the front. Unlike my previous Volvo (10k max for the front), and the XR4x4 (6000 miles per set...)

wow this is motorcycle tyre wear rates. You clearly do not drive like a nun. Makes me feel much better that my ole w124 tyres do close to 30k for the set.

Re : Tyre wear rates

Hey , I am love my car 100mm at the rear in the next day or two, its currently 60mm and the arches are cutting into the wheels when hitting bumps etc, i am going to roll them some more and bottle jack them..
but, i am still a bit worried, i am taking a load of stuff to sell at suspension kits etc., so the car is going to be even lower with all that in the boot.
