Had a search and seen a few threads discussing tyres, but not found much about these.

The 2013 C63 I pick up next week has a full matching set of (19") budgets on it, with a reasonable amount of tread. I have been quoted £538 fully fitted for a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5s, which I think are the newest version. That seems good value so was thinking of ordering whilst I can get a discount and just doing away with the budgets - I don't like to scrimp on tyres and I know Michelins are the popular choice, but aren't included in my discount. Any views on the 5s?

I have them on my MX-5 and they are way better than the OE Bridgestone Potenza in both wet and dry. So, I like them.

I'm running a pair on my fronts at the moment and they are just as good as the previous versions I've used on other cars.

I can't get them for the rear so will have to go with 3s probably unless they do them one day.

Apologies to admins for posting in the wrong section - teach me not to have two tabs open! 🙈

What size?

That is a good price. I'm being quoted £360+ just for the rears on my E63
Have you a link for your retailer?

I've always had the Continentals on my C class for years until the last swap when I went for Goodyears, much quieter, I'm pleased with them.

It is Asda Tyres so you order via them to be delivered to and fitted at a local place of your choice. Fortunately one place was one of my fitters of choice!

I also had a 10% NHS discount voucher to use.

Thanks.
I'll check them out for pricing.
The 10% NHS discount is worth having :thumb:

A C63 with 'budgets' fitted ? How far down the budget chain are they ? I would be a bit concerned that the person who fitted budget tyres to a C63 could not afford to run it in the first place and may have skimped on other unseen items . Brakes , oil , etc...

To be fair they are probably "upper end" budget and based on some reviews, aren't quite the ditch finders like some. They are Nexen N'Fera SU1s - a fully matched set of the same age. The car and its history doesn't suggest any scrimping and again to be fair, they don't need changing but my personal preference is to put something better on.

They are not too bad for a summer tyre, get the ones you want on order and smoke the Nexen rears at will ! ;)

Often budget tyres are fitted by dealers, rather than owners, to protect their margin.

I love Goodyear F1 as5s. (as I did the threes and fours before them.) Very quiet and comfortable but with no discenable loss of grip. Only comparable tyre i have found is Dunlop Maxx RT 2 which I have also had. But if comfort is not your thing or you drive with your pants on fire then I am sure other tyres are just as good. (just stay away fromPirelli!)

I believe the Dunlop RT2 is tha same tyre as the Goodyear F1 Assy3.

It's often a fine line between budget and premium tyres. Look at Pirelli, they survive on their name rather than the quality of their tyres.
Pirelli certainly don't have a good reputation on forums.

I think it depends a lot of tread and size/fitment, I deliberately choose Pirelli Pzero tyres on two of my cars, and I find them very good, but they're a single tread and size/fitment, and can't comment on others as I don't have recent experience. I also chose Pirelli's for winter tyres for use on another car, but I've not used them yet.

They are a popular tyre for some reason. Nearly every car I have bought has come with Pirelli Pzero Rosso tyres which have been noisy and poor in the wet. The tyres on my SL are Bridgestones which are even worse! I cant wait to wear them out.
