Ultimate Lamborghini Replica

I remember seeing a replica like this that got stopped on some traffic cop show - from the outside they look really convincing these days!

Yea it was a blue one I think? Pulled it as it came up as an mr2 on the cops computer!

They do look good in the pics but saying that, I saw a white one that's on autotrader for 25k+, it looks crap up close. Rubbish paint job and dodgy carbon wrap on parts!

now that is a kit car to have , i love to have it but some how i dont think i could get that kind of cash fast anuff

The main first glance giveaway is they are about half the size of the real thing. non-runner but easy to get going eh.... would easy fetch 40k if running.... if it was that easy, he'd screw it together himself!

Yeah I remember that - Traffic Cops. Some wide punk driving it who tried and failed to intimidate the stocky cop who stopped him.

You'd be forever pottering around in it though because the minute you come up against anything fruity, your going to struggle - unless they run that Audi V8 at 450BHP > 500BHP with appropriate exhaust.

The thing is that if you keep an eye out, you actually see reps with a v8 engine go on eBay for around 40k! You can get a real aston Martin for 10k less!!!

The Audi v8s from the s4 are 360bhp... In a car that doesnt weigh much, I'd guess that it would eat my na 55amg for breakfast!

That's the thing - to be convincing to those not in the know but with a quick car, it needs to kick ass like a real Murci would.

It would probably have to weigh 1200/1300kg to really fly with 360BHP - and I wasn't sure a MK2 MR2 is that light...

Yea I agree but it's still alot faster than a 2l turbo! But Mine is apparenty 370bhp standard, with secondary cat/resonators replaced with straight pipes and k&n filters, it goes to 60 in 5seconds dead every time, and that's in a 2 tonne car! I'm sure a 55k would eat this particular Lambo alive though!

The mk2 is under 1300kg just. My mk2 turbo with aprox 240 bhp is fast but not epic, the advantage is the amount of speed it can carry through corners.

The problem with this shamborghini is that by sticking in the V8 and gluing on half a ton of bodywork I doubt it weighs under 1300kg any more....

It is, at the end of the day, exactly what is. A donor MR2 with a plastic kit that resembles a Lambourghini body. It is not running (very probably a good reason for that) and still requires extensive work (beyond you average DIY capabilities) to get it anywhere near road worthy.

Assuming you get it on the road you run the risk of the real thing pulling up alongside and humiliating you. This assumes you have not by then developed severe ear infections from the constant air flow coming in through the kit car door shuts.

He may have been better restoring the MR2 to it's original glory. That would probably sell easier than this dubious pile.

When I had my 355 I was stuck on the M25 for an hour next to an MR2 that had a 355 kit stuck on it. I actually felt awkward when everybody except the driver of the MR2 got out their cars and chatted while awaiting the jam to clear. He stayed resolutely in his MR2 and appeared to be looking for his shoes.
