I am not sure about the Moose behind the steering wheel tho?

That's the skinniest American woman they could find.

If that's a little pricey, how about the much more affordable English version.

FAQs the alternative answers

Love the vehicle site FAQ,s Couldn't help adding one or two comments tho, Sorry John just couldn't resist. ;)

Does it really go into the water?--- No we faked the photos

Why would someone want a motor coach that goes into the water?--- Why indeed?

How does it switch from road to marine?---- You drive the Terra Wind into the water.

It looks top heavy, is it? No, it is not---- think iceberg.

Can the room slide outs be used on the water? Yes, the outrigger sponsons (pontoons) keep the boat level with the room slides in the out position but be prepared to wear wellies for dinner.

What is the draft? Carlsberg on tap

How deep of water can the Terra Wind go into? The depth of the water is irrelevant, However you may require an ROV to recover it when it sinks in deep water!

How big of a wave will it take? It was designed for protected waters such as lakes, bays, rivers, and sounds. With the outrigger sponsons she can take 3 foot waves or wake----- but forget surfing

How much wind can it take? With the outrigger sponsons she can take approximately 40 mph winds-----on the highway

Does it go into the ocean? ----all the way to the bottom.

Can it go into salt water? Yes it can go into salt water, however, fresh water is preferable. If it is taken into the salt water a fresh water rinse is necessary----- if using an anti-dandruff shampoo

Is rust or corrosion an issue? No. The hull is 100% aluminum which does not rust. The only steel parts are the suspension and axle components. These parts are coated with the same protective marine coating used on cruise ships ---and will seize solid after your first voyage.

Why are the door and room slide outs elevated? Actually the floor is lowered, as it is with any boat. You have to lower your center of gravity for stability.----just don't try going over any speed bumps

Does it have an anchor? Yes, it is under the back deck----- but its use is not advised for emergency stops on the highway

How long can it be out on the water? ----- almost indefinitely if you fall behind with the installment plan

From where can you fish or sunbathe? There is a 6 foot swim platform that folds out from the back deck. You can fish, layout, or dive/jump from there. Customers should be aware this is not advised while in the fast lane of a motorway.

Can you ski behind it?---- requires no answer really.

What size engine does it have? It has a caterpillar 3126E 330 horse power diesel engine with power take off to the propellers.---- Please note This vehicle is incapable of flight as its too heavy

Does it have 2 separate engines, 1 for road and 1 for marine? It only has the one engine. However, the next Terra Wind will have 2 engines; for more horse power. But it still wont take off without the aid of an aircraft carrier steam catapult.

Which kind of fuel does it use? The Terra Wind uses LOTS of fuel.

What size generator does it have? It has an 18 kilowatt 240 volt diesel generator with a 20 kilowatt peak capacity.----- this should be capable of driving most ICE equipment currently on the market

What kind of chassis is it on? The Terra Wind is built from the ground up.This is truly a boat on wheels.---no kidding

What propels it on the water? Two 19" twin bronze propellers and the stainless steel touch rudder control still wont get it off the ground.

What kind of speed does it get on the water? you will be overtaken by guys in kayaks

Speed on the land? We can reach highway speeds up to 85 mph -----but this may take several hours, favorable trade winds and a 10 mile downgrade.

How much does the Terra Wind weigh? She weighs 31,000 wet (full of fuel and water). --- we're joking of course

How long is the amphibious motorcoach? It is 42 1/2 feet long. ---forget parking bays

How wide is it? Waaay too wide .

How tall is she? The coach stands 13 feet 4 inches to the top of the satellite. (John Giljam, the owner, engineer, and designer stands 6'8". He chose this height in order to walk through the coach without ducking his head--- multistorey car parks are truly a voyage of discovery

What materials are the sides and roof made from? ---waterproof stuff

Only in America.

What utter 5hite.

I think it's truely bizzare. And $1.2M - good grief.

There was a documentary feature of this most expensive toy and it was most impressive. Regarding draught in the water, you could see the tops of the wheels. There were two rear drives to propel it through the water, but NO way was it suitable for anywhere with water 'disturbance' :D It had buoyancy floats that pull out from the sides of the vehicle and are inflated via an on-board compressor. What I did notice was when the vehicle went into, and out of the water there were what appeared to be concrete supports for the floats?

I thought the vehicle is very much an American item, that might be totally unsuitable for our roads, let alone waterways, but as a motor caravan! It even has a 5ft bath :D

It was claimed to manage 8mpg on the road and 1mpg on the water, but these would be US short measure gallons. I liked what the designer had achieved but thought it unsuitable for our country.

One does wonder which one of them was driving when the idea for a motorboat coach was born:rolleyes:

Can you ski behind it? No, it is not fast enough to pull a skier.

There's always a problem, isn't there?:D
Awesome bit of kit but utterly bizarre!!
