My E320cdi refuses to rev beyond 1500 when starting from cold. Once warmed up (while stationary) it then revs and runs normally. Behaves well for the rest of the day. No malfunction registering on the computer. Anyone with suggestions, polite ones that is, very, very welcome. Thanks

Could be some kind of safety feature? Ideally shouldn’t rev it while cold anyway.

Perhaps those replying should try dricing with a 1500 rev limit. Easy when warmed up but non existent at cold. When I say rev I'm talking about 2000-2500.

Only time I've had anything like this with a diesel was due to waxy fuel in Greece and Yugoslavia, took a while for the heat of the engine to spread to the appropriate parts and allow the car to behave normally. However, I think diesel in this country is treated especially when the weather turns colder so this problem will not occur!
