As some of you know, I am currently selling my E55 and are looking at two lease cars (we currently own our company cars). Anyway, contacted local dealer and were put in touch with Daimler Fleet Management (DFM).
Explained what I wanted etc and received some really good service. Got a great price for an ML320Cdi Sport + an A170 Avantgarde SE with options and were ready to sign the "dotted line" more or less three days later.
The guy from DFM requested to meet. During this meeting we agreed to delete a few option and add something else. No problems I was told. "Rates will be with you tomorrow". The next day came and went. No quotes.
After a phone call, rates were received via email late in the evening. But a closer look revealed that the rates were considerable higher (ML £280/month more!!) that what I had asked for, nor had it my requested options etc.
When called and said so, I was told that the rates were only for "cars in stock" (despite me saying I wanted factory order only!) and that the rates for normal lease were different. Strange I thought.....
Once I explained how I felt being treated as a 2nc class cattle, the sales person (fleet) asked me if I would still consider having an ML if he could arrange one with the right spec, right price, factory order etc. My answer was yes. He promised to come back next day.
This never happened.
Called up and told them straight that I do not feel that MB wants my business (o'boy do they need it!) and that so far I have no intention of paying fantasy rates that they think they can get away with.
I then moved on to say that they have quoted me a rate, valid for 28 days and they should stick with it.
If I quoted my customer £400 a job and then when customer wanted to book the transport I would ask for £600, I wouldn't have any customers!!
The ball is now in their hands.
My memory comes back to the good old days when MB were extra snotty (more than now) and were looking at their clients like cattle.
Regarding the A class, they have already lost out to a new Volvo S40, with all the options we wanted + service agreement at a great price (cheaper than A class and as quoted!) and just brilliant service (and yes, Volvo also need business!).
Volvo have quoted me a brilliant price for a new XC60 with all the bells and whistles for a cheaper rate than an ML. But I really fancy sticking with an ML if price is right.
Any ideas?????
