Has anyone unlocked a mobile phone without using the 0906 premium number which I'm a bit concerned about dialling?

If so can you give the idiot's guide please?

The phone is on 02 and my wife's sim is Orange and therefore not currently compatible.

    Thanks,

It usually depends on the make and model of phone, would help if you can tell us.

Have a nose around the O2 website. I had a couple of Sony Ericsson phones locked to Vodafone. I looked in their Support section and from there found they will supply without charge an unlock code for phones which are on pay monthly and out of contract. One email later I had the codes and unlocking instructions.
