Just removed the incorrectly placed AMG badge from the bootlid of my car and now I know why it was in the wrong place! Nice little hole and a rust bubble! :(

Looks like my proposed trip to the bodyshop will be sooner than I was hoping.

one car I had bought once beared an english flag right in the middle of the rear quarter... removed it to find a hole... bullet?!

How annoying!
It's annoying because the rear of the car (arches and bootlid) was resprayed a couple of years ago and had no apparent rust on it when I inspected it prior to purchase.

I did wonder why the bodyshop had only put an AMG badge on it and then not even in the right place!

Even though I could re-use the old AMG badge and I have a brand new CLK55 and AMG badge to put on it I might leave it blank.

Do you reckon that little bubble would be cause for cencern in the future? As I also have one just like that and was wondering if it will just stay like that?

Nick, if you are not already fixed up with a bodyshop, try Hanstons in Altrincham. Fantastic MB Approved repairer run by great people.

If you leave it untreated it will get worse. For the time being I am going to protect mine with some clear nail varnish courtesy of the missus - this is practically the same thing as the clearcoat they use on cars.

I've got some ugly stone chips to take care of anyway so I will have a word with these guys and see what they think!

Glad to hear it. They'll look after you, Nick.

It's a fantastic setup and the cars are painted upstairs on the first floor! That's also where a lot of the very high value cars are stored - The lift keys are taken off the premises at night/weekends. ;)

There's usually some quite interesting MB's in the workshop as well as other top-end cars.
