CL500
Thanks for the ad. Have just purchased a 2004 CL500. The car needs work, lots of it. It’s been off the road for 2 Years so needs lots of stuff doing. I intend to repair and rebuild everything I can, and work through the car to make an original usable car. I will not alter it. Unless needed to restore an original function.
Wish me luck….IMG_7813.jpeg

They are the most fabulous cars.

So first job was to walk around the car and test everything. Car starts and drives but can’t turn the steering wheel too far as the abc is on the floor. Door electrics were a problem. Scanned the car with DAS and found no communication with various control units that should be fitted. Downloaded the fuse box list from this site, removed all the fuses in all the fuse boxes sprayed with electrical spray and replaced all the fuses with new and at the correct rating, re scanned and now have communication with all expected ecu’s next I’ll work through the faults. Having repaired the door wiring and finding the rest of the seat control trim securing bracket in the door. I have polished the wood. Clued together the broken securing bracket and 3 d printed a new one. The spring clip I found so now ready to refit in the door trim

Fabulous! Perfect car for it.

But may your God go with you and use t’interweb for advice and guidance.

A magnificent car when it’s running right

Sounds as though you are well up to the task. As you are no doubt aware the ABC will probably be the most frustrating and expensive problem to solve as some owners have found out. Good luck .

I owned a 2004 CL55 Kompressor for a good few years and absolutely loved it, still miss it today :(
Good luck Steve with the restoration, lots of good help and advice on this forum. Oh, and welcome.

Kind regards Matt :thumb:

Good luck, I had one a few years ago and the "only" issues I had were a broken aircon compressor, rattling cat and the shifter got stuck in P (very annoying!).

All reasonably easy fixes though (I only did the shifter myself!)

You are not alone, i bought a CL500 2001 model with the same intentions 2 weeks ago. ABC valve block issue and a very loud exhaust rattle are the immediately obvious problems, mine has an mot and I'm daily driving it, I'm sure there's a lot more to discover. All the best !20241014_120642.jpg
