Update command

Hi any thought on the 3 years you get with updates on the command in certain vehicles !!! It's free for the first 3 years , but then how does it get updated ?? But after the 3 years how can you get the updates ??? Any help please , both vehicles are now out of the 3 years free updates ,...
Just thought about it as driving home , never asked at MB dealer as never thought about it

I wouldn't worry about it. I can't believe that many roads will ever be built that drastically affect your route planning. I recently had my 2 yr old ML updated free of charge but don't believe it'll make a lot of difference. I certainly wouldn't pay £100 for the upgrade. As for TomTom, well, I have one of them in the other car and even with updates it isn't always right!

Thanks

I take your point and thanks for the website. I am looking at getting an up to date Sat Nav disc. Could i just buy one from the website or is there different Dicks for different NTG's

thanks again.

I would speak to Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists as they will ensure you get the right one. Like all software once you open the pack it's non-returnable so you have to be sure. I wouldn't risk ebay.

Also DONT buy a copy !! If there's a slight bit missing it will corrupt your comand. With no warranty available as they will know how the problem occurred :dk: and yes each vehicle may have different discs , my old clk discs wasn't compatible in the GL if I remember correctly but was compatible with my ml I think ,,, best to get advice from a knowledgable person

First point, it's imperative that you sort out EXACTLY which Comand system you have. For example, the W204's have NTG4 pre-facelift and NTG4.5 post facelift - and the DVD's for one do not work in the other!

Then you need to ask if you can use "second user" genuine MB discs, as I can with the NTG4 in my 2008 S204.

If yes, then you have the option of buying second hand - maybe last years update - genuine MB discs from eBay (search EU rather than just UK once you know exactly what you need) or even occasionally here on the forum, as well as from Comandonline or MB themselves.

If not, then you have no reliable option but to buy new genuine discs from Comandonline or MB.

Just been to Mercedes Shrewsbury , been informed £80 for the updated version which will take all day to load on to the system , ;)
