I had my 2014 W212 E350 Bluetech booked in for a service today.

On the check in sheet one of the work items they had was "SMPC770 update control unit software 19P5496120"

I tried googling the item but couldn't find any information on the work.

When I arrived at the garage I asked the Service Adviser what it entailed and whether it was in connection with the diesel emissions. nox sensors or adblue but he had no idea. All he said was it was normal updating of the software on the cars and that there has been no complaints or problems reported by customers but if I didn't want it updated I didn't have to have it done. But once it was done it couldn't be reversed.

As they couldn't tell me the reason for the update and as I was aware of diesel emissions problems and also that I had had a new nox sensor 2 years ago I decided not to have the update until I can find out more information.

Does any other member have any information about this particular referenced update.
