Update for Cars with UMI

There is an update that is difficult to obtain for those cars with the new UMI (Universal Media Interface). This is presently the W204. It is not for cars with MMI (Multi Media Interface) or any other sort of head unit.

UMI update

It is only available here on MBCLUB so you will need to PM me for the password to download it.

As far as I am aware all you need to do is to unzip it, copy it to a USB stick and insert it into your UMI. At this time I am not certain whether it includes new maps or not as I dont have a W204 to test it on.

As with anything you download over the internet it is supplied here as is with no warranty or guarantee from either myself or MBCLUB.

I think you need to have an excess of 30 posts to be able to PM another forum member

You will need to make contact either by phone or email.

Also, one further very small point.

There ARE people out there with email capture software so I would suggest not posting a personal email address ad verbatim.
I always do something like................
emailaddress (at) yahoo.com (change the at to a @)
That fools the software and doesn't recognise it as an email address - so you wont get so many offers of little blue pills or non-home extensions....................

I dont think the update does very much to be honest. It certainly doesnt update maps or anything like that. I'll email the password anyway.

Hi Alfie, the retrofit that you fitted on the W204 of mine works fine - great in Germany last week (even if it does hate the A14 for some reason best known to itself) - Ipod connection works a real treat. Shame I had to buy one - purely to test it, you understand......... I think that I'll leave it for now even though the maps are soemwhat elderly. Would be interested in a map update, though.

UMI Map Information

I was hoping someone can assist. I took the plunge and purchased a UMI kit from the UK and had it fitted by my Mercedes dealer last week. Everything works a treat I just need to load some Australian Maps. These are not due here for at least 8 months. Being in the IT game I am very confident of being able to upload some maps before then however I need to get hold of the update program and structure so that I can massage the files.
Does anyone have a copy of the file/update that I can test?

Sorry but it sounds like you have just graduated to work at IT, if you actually have a lot of experience, you might introduce your background a bit differently.

This thread anyway is about a small file with certain updates to the system while you seem to be after updating maps to include local Australian data. Shouldn't you refer to the other thread that talks about UMI SW update (to Navigation 20 I believe)? But you could also purchase this update DVD from ComandOnline.

European maps are usually from Navteq or Tele-Atlas while MB appears to use other suppliers for Australia. This may add complexity for your task. But it would be interesting to know how you did it if you can figure out a solution.

The update is no longer valid. There is now a disk set produced for this.
