Update on CL600 Biturbo 2005

It's a stunning car owned by an amazingly down-to-earth guy.

Hope to see a lot more of it in the coming years.

Living in Henley, I see YOU around quite a bit. I just wondered when you were in front of me at the waitrose meat counter on Sunday and got the last rib of beef, did you pay for it on exit?

But is that Young Elvis or Vegas Elvis? :o

Great update.

You would be surprised at the amount of times I have had MB sellers try to pass off inoperable aircon as "just needing a regas" or "I don't use aircon so never turned it on" which, to me, is a load of nonsense and usually hiding something more costly. If it needs regas, then £50 and job done and no longer an issue.

Wishing you many miles of very happy and very swift motoring!

Hi and thank you. About the Aircon, you are of course correct in what you say. This might be of use to other members, the first thing I noticed was the lack of cold air, no warning light or fault messages shown, the main dealer did a regas and all was well for a short time (I leave the aircon on all the time at 22deg ) Two weeks later the light on the A/C came on, on my car this indicates the A/C is off (on som MB the light indicates the A/C is on. No matter what configuration of the various switches the light remained on, the heater and blower worked as normal.
There was no indication or fault messages shown apart fron the red light. The main dealer said it was the temp sensor for the evaporator, the part itself is not a costly item, however, its placed on the cab side of the bulkhead, meaning most of the dash is removed to gain access to it (labour charges are high) Again, all was well for a short while. This time there were no lights or messages, just a lack of cooled air. This time it was the A/C compressor (replaced under warranty as were the previous faults)
In short, as far as the A/C is concerned I was told (eons) ago that it should be used once or twice a month (even in cold weather) this lubricates various parts and stops the seals from drying out.
The above may be of use to others.

My 'minds eye' created such a vivid picture of you that I had a sleepless Night. Elvis has been dead and buried for some time, at the time of his demise he was no longer at his best, added to this image was one of Clint Eastwood, to help I took an image of his early days in his role as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide (1959/60). I now feel sure I would recognise you if we ever met.:D

Hello Woody - I was with him when that comment was made - I don't recall if it was from Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder though :D.
