Ok, Dave is now nearly a month old ...... :bannana:

We have built him a run on the front lawn and a plywood hutch that he goes in at night...he is eating about a half an iceberg lettuce a day.

He has just started to preen and to swim in the washing up bowl that we have for him. He is about 5 or 6 times the size he was when we found him..

It all looks like he is going to be ok, three ducks landed on the island the other day and were checking him out, 2 drakes and a female, the drakes were trying to peck at him but the female was just looking at him...

Not a great piccy, i'll try and get another on monday ....

THANKS very much indeed for the update. Good luck with the pictures.

Have a nice week-end

Oh and perhaps one day I will ask how a lock works (just joking as I know how much you appreciate people asking this question :D )

Kind regards,
John

Are you coming off the tideway to visit the river ?

How would I know?
I'm a lorry driver :D :D
Seriously, he just wants me to "pilot" him up the river as I don't think he trusts himself anymore with a 33' motorboat. (I used to have a 37' fishing boat myself) ;)

Lol !!

I used to be a lorry driver, thats no excuse..... :D

I only ask, as if you are coming onto the non-tidal thames ie. above Teddington, you will need a visitors licence, this can prove to be a nasty shock if you aren't prepared for it .....

It is worked out on square metreage of the boat and there are several combinations eg. 1-6 days , 15 days or 31 days.....

To give you an idea if we say for arguments sake that the boat is 10 metres long and 3 wide, obviously this is 30 square metres ...

a one day licence is £17.90 , a 15 day is £63.30 or a 31 day is £82.80

however if he is licensed with the EA or has BW gold licence he will be ok .

Is it a cruiser or a narrowboat ?

Cruiser mate.
Last year, we went up to meet him and the M-I-Law (to pick the kids up) and I went to far in the car by going over Hampton Court Bridge.
He goes about 1/2 mile before that

Kingston or Thames Ditton then....

are you overnighting on the boat - might be an excuse for a beer ?

Now you've said it, Kingston.
Will be staying the night there, so a beer or 10 sounds good.
Will let you know the dates a bit closer to the event. ;)

Nice ....... if i'm not working that evening i'll be there beer in hand !! :)

Hampton Court, Kingston - This is my area too! :p

I'd better see if I can make this mini-gathering too, riverside pubs are superb in the summer...

Be rude not to really ;)
