Is it possible to upgrade an NTG 5.5 system to a limited* 6 or limited* 7 system?
Coming from a position of complete ignorance, hence my ignorant assumption, that the Head Unit works off a hard drive with an OS. If that OS is reformatted or updated with Android 12 (Read somewhere that Android 12 is the base layer to NTG 7, again I maybe wildly wrong). Then the user could formally install NTG 6 or 7?
I come from approach that I'm NOT desparate for this option. Just curiosity that I like my mechanical and digital gadgets to be working correctly with the latest available User or Official parts and software.
I've found it 'annoying' that there isn't an official listing (that can be easily referenced) of firmware 'headliners' for our cars that users need to be aware. All we get told is that the updates will be provided to you OTA. But conversation with others indicates that this is not the case.
Having said all this, I do understand the car industries business model, that if you want the latest wizardry then buy our latest model. But if the model of car is what you desire, then the purchase of a new is not an option.
*Limited. Totally accept that my head unit and the car driven wouldn't be able to utilise all the options provided by NTG 6 and 7.
