I have a 2008 CLS, and we are just getting a new car also with COMAND. Anyone know if I can use the new DVD from the new car to update the COMAND in the CLS. Both Comand units look identical.

I presume I will still have to use the older DVD for the maps in the CLS.

Thanks,

Simon

Bummer, I did wonder.

But both headunits look identical, but that usually means they are different!!!

Thanks,

S

The new car will presumeably be a model year 2009 one (ie brand new) in which case it will have the hard disk based comand system. the 2008 CLS may be a model year 2009 car also in which case it too will have the new hard disk based comand. These cars do not have a DVD in them for navigation.

If the cars are earlier than MY09 then it depends on which car the new one is as to whether the disk from the new car will work. Even if it does work you will need to leave it in the car to use the navigation fully.

Aah, well that is that plan scuppered then. I wondered if there was some kind of firmware update on the DVDs.

Cars are pre-hard drive COMAND.

Thanks!

Then you are going to need a disk for each car!
