After marking 20k+ for new A class factory order, I am after an upgrade for my own Avensis Estate now, which crossed 50k and expiring Warranty period soon. I am really confused with the options I have now, not sure which direction to go.

Avensis may not be premium estate but was wonderful and fully loaded ...sat nav, camera, climate control.....which all are optional items in any 'premium model'.

I could go 3 ways now, another estate or SUV or people carrier ( I am yet to understand why people buy saloons!!)

(1) Looked at 2015 Avensis, but in fact its not much of an upgrade from mine

(2) Considered C class Estate - but looks like a Face lift expected soon..?

(3) Looked at BMW estates - all got manual hand brake - can't live with that

(4)Looked at Audi Estates - May have to shed lot to get high spec as my Avensis

(5) Considered VW Estates - may be at same level as Avensis, not really an upgrade

(6) Merc/BMW Cross over or SUV - cost may go above 30k..

(7) People carriers - Haven't seen any good looking ones..!!

Any suggestions.???

I guess it depends what you want from a car, I like the manual handbrake in the BMW's. The only mercs I've driven recently are c63's but I've driven a number of Audis and BMW's, for me a 320d auto would make a great everyday car. It's quick and comfortable, the 330d is very quick. They will average 50mpg, the 420d manual I have collected has averaged above 60mpg on a run from Newcastle.

Audis, the last estate I drove was the 4.0 twin turbo S6, again quick, comfy and could be driven flat out in all weathers. I'm not a fan of the 2.0 Audi and the autos are not brilliant, the engines are a bit flat compared to the BMW engine. The 3.0 Quattro auto in the a6 is very good and it has the zf 8 speed box.

The other option is the xf estate but you must get the v6 diesel the 2.2 is a bit meh.

What a strange comment. Maybe
1) Because they like them and everyone's different. It'd be a boring world if we all liked the same things.
2) Because not everyone requires a lot of space in a car. (Just like the A Class you've ordered)
3) Because some like the look of a saloon.

If you can get your head around the manual handbrake for 1 & 2

1) Skoda Superb Estate. Very well equipped. Good value. 4x4
2) 335d Xdrive touring. Some AMAZING deals around. 4x4
3) C Class estate. (205) don't worry about face lift.

S205 (c-class estate) has been out in the UK just over 12 months. Facelift at least 2 years away.
Some good deals if you go via online brokers.

Why not extend your Toyota warranty ....by far the cheapest option.

I have seen new BMW 2 series already moved away from manual handbreak to electric one. Also having enjoyed finish and spec level of Merc I don't think Beemers are any better than Toyota except on badge. Even FL 1 series looks very outdated when I was looking for hatchback.

I will have to look at Audi seriously, But some how Audi dealers are absolute a***. May because not much competition and cars are sold without any effort..??. So I have to find a good dealer ready to listen to me. My bl*** Audi dealer recently told me to pay the deposit and then arrange test drive next week..!!

Heard about Passat Alltrack 2015, looks to be much better finishing that normal Passat.

BMW is not there is any sites like Carwow, so can't get any good offers either
C Class estate - I feel diamond grill will be extended to all, FL may imminent.

What about the XF Shooting Brake (or estate)?

Very prestigious interior, quality feel everywhere, and something away from Jap/German to boot?

You mean Jag XF Sports Break or CLA Shooting Brake..?

first one I can't afford to buy, second is nearly not an estate...!!

Stick with the Toyota. Best car I ever had 160,000 miles in 8 years and other than one wheel bearing change and regular home servicing it just went and did everything. Broke my heart trading it in:bannana:

Pal of mine had an Avensis for 10 years and never had it serviced.

Was mostly trouble-free.

Its fantastic car, I think value will nose down once factory warranty over.

It will lose a lot less than a new car in £ notes. Just get a Toyota warranty extension if you're worried. Theyre currently offering two years for the price of one.
